It is with deep sadness that we announce the accidental death of Leonard Lemieux on July 29, 2025.
He was born on August 13, 1949 in Barachois, QC to the late Marie Ste. Croix and the late Edwin Lemieux. Leonard moved to Longlac, Ont. in 1969 where he worked in the lumber industry. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and loved the great outdoors.
After retirement, he spent winters in Texas, summers in Barachois and spring and fall in Longlac. He pursued his interests in each of these locations. Leonard enjoyed music and liked nothing better than a good singsong. He added fun and laughter wherever he went.
Leonard is survived by:
his spouse Suzanne Cyr,
his son Kevin (Kaylee Echum),
his brother Percy (Marjorie Riendeau),
his sisters Louise (Leonard Wall), Luena (the late Bob Barclay) and Anita (Tom Heggison).
He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Donations in memory of Leonard can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 261.
Professional services have been entrusted to the Funeral Home Valère Fortin of Gaspé, a subsidiary of the HG Division network certified Distinction by the Corporation des thanatologues du Québec and by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec.
The management and staff of HG Division offer their deepest condolences to the family and thank them for their trust.

Nos condoléances à Suzanne et la famille Lemieux . Nos pensées vous accompagnent
Sad to hear about Leonard Lemieux’s passing. He was my dad’s nephew and well-loved in both the Ste. Croix and Lemieux families. Coming from Barachois, where life was shaped by the sea, strong family ties, and sometimes strong drink, Leonard’s personality was larger than life. He had a gift for bringing people together, for laughter, music, and making the ordinary feel like a celebration. Dad always called him “quite the character” — and I think they had that in common. Thinking of his family and all who’ll miss him.
Our most sincere condolences to Suzanne and all of Leonard’s family. He will most definitely be missed by all who knew him.
