It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother Lonzo on November 2nd, 2024. He was born James Lorenzo Tapp on July 11, 1934 in Barachois, Quebec. He was predeceased by his parents James Tapp and Beatrice Lemieux, his brother Romeo and sister Marcella, Edwina and Madonna. Lonzo was also predeceased by his wife Jean Kimmins and partner Flora Asselin. Left to mourn are his brother Wilton, his sisters Mill, Emma, Norma and Carmen along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive condolences at St. Peter's Church of Barachois on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Finally, the burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Barachois Cemetery.
Lonzo worked for Kimberly Clark in Longlac, Ontario for over 25 years. There, he and his wife Jean volunteered for many community organizations. His favorite was a fishing derby that he sponsored for many years while Jean baked goods for all occasions.
After retirement, Lonzo and Jean moved back to Barachois where they continued to give back to their community. They joined the Barachois Legion and the Mountain View Golden Age where he spent many years as president. Lonzo remained an active member of the Golden Age, generously giving his time even as recently as the October Harvest Supper.
Lonzo had a great love of music, playing guitar and singing. He played music greatly with many musicians from around Gaspe coast. Whether it was at a festival, church choir or community event, Lonzo enjoyed every minute and his presence will be greatly missed by those around him.

Professional services have been entrusted to the Valère Fortin Funeral Home Inc., a subsidiary of the HG Division network certified Distinction by the Corporation des thanatologues du Quebec and by the Bureau de normalisation du Quebec.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of the unique and special man we call our Uncle. Happy memories go back to the 1960's when he and Aunt Jean would visit us in the Soo from Geraldton. Over the past 5 years we visited annually getting to know how dedicated he was to Flora, how social and giving he was to everyone and his community, how he loved to play his guitar and sing, and how diverse his interests and knowledge was. A special man who will be very missed. He is playing guitar for the angels now (who like country music ;)

Words cannot express how much I will miss my kind and caring brother who over the years took the time to travel and visit me and my family with Jean in the Soo way back in the 60' s, 70' s. Especially precious were his daily visits while I visited Barachois when we shared a coffee and many cheerful stories and memories. A truly special man.
We were very sad to hear about Lonzo’s passing. He was a very well liked and respected member of the community.
He was involved in many aspects of life in Barachois including the Golden Age Club and entertaining everyone with his musical talents.
He will certainly be missed and leaves big shoes to be filled.
