Guy Rehel - Obituary
In Loving Memory of Guy Rehel
It is with great joy and sadness that we celebrate the life of Guy Joseph Rehel, who passed on May 21, 2020 at 79 years old. Guy loved his family, brothers, sisters, and in particular his grandchildren. He travelled across Canada and around the world to spend time with them.
Guy worked hard from a young age. He began in the lumber camps as a boy to support his family and then like many Gaspesians moved to Toronto to find opportunity. After marrying Mary (née Coombs), he moved his family back to Gaspe, then to Longlac, and finally to Brampton, Ontario thinking of the best opportunities for his wife and three children (Trevor, Kelly and April). There were thick times and thin times but Guy and Mary kept everyone happy and well fed.
After retiring to Gaspe, he looked forward to cutting firewood every year with his friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades who helped many with repairs on their vehicles and homes. Guy loved to have a beer, to cook on the BBQ, to sing a song, to play cards, and to laugh with all those present. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
**Funeral arrangements will be planned at a later date once we are all able to gather as a family.
Born on June 28, 1940, Guy was the son of the late Norman and late Émilie (née Francis) Rehel. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (née Coombs); proud father of Trevor (Noriko), Kelly (Kevin), and April (Marcos); adored ‘Papa’ of Julia, Jemma, Kai, Eimi, Maya, Natalie, and Layla; much loved brother of Lucy (Carl), Ruth (Harris), Andrew (Estelle), Nora (Earl), Ann (Roger), Murray (Elisabeth), Raymond (Doreen), Irene (Marg); and predeceased by his brothers William and Patrick. He is also dearly missed by many other extended family members.
