On Saturday, April 16 2022, at the Hôtel Dieu Hospital, Mrs. Ethel Hamilton passed away at the age of 82.
Mrs. Hamilton, widow of the late Leo Fitzpatrick, leaves behind to mourn her son Dan Fitzpatrick (m Min Wong) and daughter Suzan Fitzpatrick (m Peter Dippel) and grandchildren Tyler, Shannon and Erin. She also leaves behind her sisters Patricia, Jeannine, and Claire (m Marc Langelier), and brother George. Also left to mourn are the numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, as well as the close friends that she considered part of her family.
Ethel was the epitome of grace and kindness. She was selfless to the end, and was an example to us all in humility and courage.
We want to thank the staff at the Hotel Dieu Hospital for the care and compassion given towards Ethel and her family.
In keeping with her simple demeanor and desire to not be the center of attention, we will respect her final wishes and hold a gathering of friends and family at the cemetery this summer to pay our final respects.
Having herself volunteered at the hospital Ethel knew the importance of patient comfort while there. With that in mind, we ask that friends and family of Ethel to consider making a donation to the Hospital Foundation in her name to honor her memory.

À l'Hôpital Hôtel-Dieu de Gaspé, le samedi 16 avril 2022, est décédée Dame Ethel Hamilton à l'âge de 82 ans. Elle était l'épouse de feu M. Leo Fitzpatrick.
Mme Hamilton laisse dans le deuil,
son fils Dan Fitzpatrick (Min Wong);
sa fille Suzan Fitzpatrick (Peter Dippel);
ses petits-enfants Tyler, Shannon et Erin;
ses soeurs Patricia, Jeannine et Claire (Marc Langelier);
son frère George;
de nombreux neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et autres membres de la famille,
ainsi que de nombreux amis qu'elle considérait comme faisant partie de sa famille.
Ethel était l'exemple même de la grâce et la gentillesse. Elle était d'une générosité sans limite et demeure pour nous un exemple d'humilité et de courage.
Nous remercions le personnel de l'Hôpital Hôtel-Dieu pour les soins et la compassion envers notre mère Ethel et sa famille.
En respectant sa façon qu'elle avait de rester simple et ne voulant pas être le centre d'attention, nous aurons une rencontre au cimetière St-Albert de Gaspé le samedi 23 juillet à 11 heures pour lui rendre un dernier hommage.
Ayant été bénévole à l'hôpital, Ethel connaissait l'importance du soutien au patient. C'est pour cette raison que nous demandons aux membres de la famille et aux amis d'Ethel de faire un don à la Fondation de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Gaspé en sa mémoire.
