Harold Wilson Howatson

Harold Wilson Howatson

September 4, 1925 - February 24, 2023

On Friday, February 24, 2023, surrounded by infinite love, and in the warm embrace of his family, Harold Wilson Howatson passed into the Divine mystery, and the life ever after.
Harold was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Joan Fairservice. Passing before him were his parents Weston and Alice Howatson, and siblings Percival, Mary, Lester, Dorothy, James, Ethel, Everett, and Annie.
Harold was deeply embedded in the lives of his children, who provided him with his greatest joy. His love had no bounds and to his last day he strove to make things easier for Barbara (Jean-Jacques), Ross (Leslie), and Linda (Alfonso). He leaves an immensely loved granddaughter Julieanne (Chris).
Harold leaves many nieces and nephews with memories of his warm smile and good nature, but especially, Janet Howatson (Ray), Joanne Howatson (Kim), and Eileen Pidgeon (James).
Harold lived a full and happy life, 97 years, all of them in Black Cape and New Richmond. He was a devoted Christian and an integral part of St. Andrew’s United Church. His faith sustained him in difficult times.
Harold’s real passion bloomed when he retired from the mill, and he established his wood working shop. His favourite season was spring, as it was a promise of new life. He had a tremendous sense of humour. He always had a ready smile for everyone, too beautiful to forget.
All his life, Harold exemplified kindness, fairness, broadmindedness, and gratitude. He was humble, too humble to accept the wonderful and special person he was. He was selfless, brave, and loving. His entire life he strove to make things better for his children, and those around him, and for that we are eternally grateful.
