It is with a great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronnie Lewis Roberts at the age of 74 in Gaspé, Québec.
Preceded by his parents Burton and Eveline, and his brother Lester. He is survived by Coreen, his three daughters: Christine (Dave), Amanda, and Jennifer (Travis); two grandchildren: Bailey and Brandon; one great-grandchild: Zoë, one sister Rhoda, two brothers: Milton (Theona) and Don; his adoring aunts: Betty and Sally, and so many more family members and precious friends.
At the request of Mr. Roberts, there will be a private burial. A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date.
The professional services have been entrusted to the Valère Fortin Funeral Home in Gaspé, a subdivision of the HG division network awarded Distinction by the Corporation of thanatologists of Québec and BNQ-certified by the Bureau de Normalisation du Québec.
HG Division and staff offer their deepest condolences to the family.
As there will be no formal ceremony, the family has prepared a tribute for you in honor of Mr. Roberts.
"Ronnie attended school in Grande Grève and later in Montreal. Afterwards he joined the army reserves where he learned how to build bridges. Throughout his life he was a sailor and a trucker. Over the years he delivered copper, petroleum products, acid concentrate, glass, wood and most recently helped with the environmental land reclamation projects in Forillon National Park, Percé and around the Gaspé Peninsula. His three girls inherited the following qualities that made him special: Christine, her passion for quarter-mile racing and for being absolutely meticulous with details. Amanda clearly, got his looks, and his compassion for others. Jenn, her love of animals and astonishing ability to drive truck.
He loved hunting, fishing, skidooing, four wheeling and had the honour of creating the best memories in the woods with his friends and family. Like his hands, he was larger than life. He put those well-known hands to good use by working hard and leading an abundant life.
His big laugh, incredible dance moves, and constant joking around would light up any room. He was strong yet, had the most soft, generous, deep heart and would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was his very last one. To say that we will all miss him and his big presence in our lives, is an understatement. He was loved and respected by all. He loved his special friends that became part of his family. We will deeply miss what made him our Dad and, your loyal friend."
We would like to sincerely thank the kind staff at the Gaspé Hospital and Martin Lemieux-Fortin with Valère Fortin Funeral Home for their incredible professionalism and walking us gently hand-in-hand through this journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to L'Association du cancer de l'Est du Québec.
