Passed away at Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Gaspé on November 17 2016, at the age of 90.

Beloved husband for 65 years of Melva Hotton (Syvret), caring father of Kenneth (Diane) and grandfather of Jenna and Ryan. Predeceased by his son Dean.

Ralph will also be missed by his brothers Floyd (Joanne) and Selwyn (Bonnie). Predeceased by brothers and sisters Cyril, Helen, Mabel, Cedric, Neville and Wilma. Ralph will also be missed by many brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive condolences at the résidence funéraire Valère Fortin located at 86, Jacques Cartier street, in Gaspé on Sunday November 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, the day of the funeral service, the funeral home will open at 9:15 a.m.

Funeral service will be held on Monday November 21 at 11 a.m.at St. Peter's Church in Saint-Georges-de-la-malbaie.

Donations in memory of Ralph may be made to CSSS de la côte de Gaspé foundation or the St. Peter's Church in Saint-Georges-de-la-malbaie.

We were not fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with Uncle Ralph but we can say that even during the short visits that we had together we thought the world of both Ralph and Melva. Ralph had a sparkle in his eyes and quick wit that always felt like he had a private joke that we wanted to know. We see the same sparkle in our father’s eye – maybe it’s a Hotton trait – but is one that brings a smile to our faces whenever we think about it.

We wish that we could be there to celebrate his life with you Melva, Ken and Diane. Instead we will gather together and make some special pizza – Ally, Sarah, Parker and Noah remember well the Dixie Lee pizza we all ate together in Gaspé. We will eat pizza and pay tribute to Ralph – and hope to come to Gaspé soon.
